Historical Note

The Colgate Consensus was an editorial newsletter that aimed to give Colgate students who felt that their opinions were not getting "…adequate public coverage…" a venue in which to express those opinions. According to the first issue, it was established in part as a response to "burgeoning discontent in reference to the alleged bias of the Maroon." It covered issues of national and local interest, such as fraternities, discrimination, and hazing at Colgate; the Vietnam War; and the draft.
