Scope and Contents

This collection consists of reports to the Middles States Association submitted from 1954 and approximately every 10 years after. Also included are draft reports, steering committee minutes, and suplementary materials for the self-study process for accreditation.

Historical Note

The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), established in 1887, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educational improvement through evaluation and accreditation. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) was established in 1919. It is a voluntary, non-governmental, peer-based membership organization dedicated to educational excellence and improvement through peer evaluation and accreditation.

Colgate University was first accredited through the Middle States Association in 1921 and continutes to maintain reaccreditation. Self-study evaluations for accreditation are carried out approximately every ten years.
