Colgate University Wills, Bequests, and Scholarships collection, A1217
Scope and Contents
This collection consists mostly of financial and legal records documenting gifts to Madison University in the nineteenth century. The majority date from the 1850s-1880s.
Also included are detailed notes created by University Archivist Howard Williams in the early 1950s. Williams' notes consist of note cards and worksheets describing contributions of individual donors. They appear to draw on many of the nineteenth century records in the collection as well as other sources, such as Board of Trustees minutes and financial reports.
