Biographical / Historical
This collection documents the life of Ray Halbritter, his political rise to become the Oneida Indian Nation Representative in 1987 and his efforts to improve the economic conditions of the Oneida people from 1990 through 1995. The bulk of the collection is six articles published in the Syracuse Post Standard and Syracuse Herald American between October 8 through October 15, 1995. These articles focus on the positive and negative affects of the Turning Stone Casino. Turning Stone was was the first casino approved by New York State in July 1993.
