Biographical Note

Aaron Hodgman Cole was born in Greenwich on October 21, 1856. He graduated from Colgate in 1884; taught at the Peddie Institute from 1884-1888; and studied at Johns Hopkins University in 1889. At Colgate, he was a lecturer in natural history from 1888-1890 and then a lecturer (1890-1891) and instructor (1891-1892) in biology and geology. He served as curator of the museum from 1890-1892.

Following his time at Colgate, he was a teacher in Chicago (1892-1906); instructor at the University of Chicago (1891); and instructor of biology at Chicago Normal College (1906-1913). He died in Chicago on December 31, 1913.

Cole was the author of Manual of biological projection and anesthesia of animals (1907).
