Historical note
The November 6, 1931 issue of Colgate's student newspaper reported that "the Colgate Vikings, a brand-new dance orchestra, has joined the ranks of Colgate's jazz bands ... The Vikings are another of an increasing number of dance orchestras which have been started on the Colgate campus."
