Historical note
According to the press release "Colgate University's Coeds," Louise Lucas, Claudia Nounnan, Helen Mues, Alice Vesely, and Mary Wallace attended Colgate in 1946 when the university ruled that it would allow wives of veterans to enroll in classes. Officially, Colgate remained an all male institution with no plans to grant degrees to women. Wives of veterans who enrolled would have the option of transferring credit they earned to a school that granted degrees to women.
