Scope and Contents

This journal contains field notes, lecture notes, and an essay written by student George G. Saunders while he was a student at Colgate University. Much of it specifically addresses the Colgate campus, Hamilton, and the surrounding area. Included in the journal are sketches, photographs, a colored map of the local area, and an essay on "The Pleistocene geology of the Chenango Valley."

Biographical note

George Geowey Saunders was born in Oneonta on December 15, 1885 and prepared at Rutherford, NJ High School. He graduated from the College at Colgate University in 1909 and attended the Seminary from 1909-1910 but did not graduate. He went on to serve as a physics assistant (1910-1912), instructor (1912-1915), and assistant professor (1915-1918) at his alma mater. He died in Hamilton on October 13, 1918.
